Falk Flade studied Slavistics, East European History and Economics. Diverse occupations in the field of science and teaching brought him to a broad range of institutions especially in Central and Eastern Europe. He received his Ph.D. with a dissertation on energy infrastructures in the Eastern Bloc. Current fields of research are history of economy and technology, communist studies, and central and eastern European history. Currently, he works on his habilitation project “Modernization blockades in science and economy of the GDR and Poland”.
