Elżbieta Kwiecińska is a historian and social scientist. She defended a PhD thesis at the European University Institute, Florence in which she considered the concept of the civilizing mission as a cultural transfer from the West to the East in East-Central Europe in a long 19th-century. Then, she moved to Lviv, Ukraine. She was a visiting fellow at the Center for Urban History (2020) and a Visehrad Fellow at the Ukrainian Catholic University (2021). From 2022 to 2024 she was a lecturer on modern Ukrainian and Polish history at the University of Warsaw. Since 2022, she has continued to work for Invisible University for Ukraine as a mentor. She recorded oral history interviews with Ukrainian refugees in a first emergency project about the war in Ukraine "Testimonies from the War" (2022–2023) for the Polish Academy of Sciences. In April 2023, she was a European Times (EUTIM) Fellowships at the European University Viadrina.
