Elżbieta Opiłowska, sociologist, is Associate Professor at the Institute of Sociology and Head of the Center for Regional and Borderlands Studies at the University of Wrocław. Her main expertise is in borderlands studies, memory cultures, European integration and German-Polish relations. Guest Professorship at the UniGr-Center for Border Studies, University of Luxembourg (2021) and at the Viadrina Institute of European Studies (2020/2021). She has been granted scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Alfred Toepfer F.V.S. Foundation, Robert Bosch Foundation and German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. She has been a visiting fellow at the Centre for Border Region Studies at the University of Southern Denmark, Sønderborg, Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO) at the University of Leipzig and Centre for Interdisciplinary Polish Studies at the European University Viadrina.
